UAE accounting and bookkeeping

Who does this work. This is a regulated activity in the UAE and is carried out by a licensed partner firm there, who quote it directly. We coordinate the engagement and handle everything on the Indian side.

Until recently a great many UAE companies kept books informally, because nothing forced the issue. VAT changed that for registered businesses and corporate tax has changed it for everyone else: taxable income is computed from IFRS financial statements, and records have to be retained and produced if the FTA asks.

Maintained monthly, this is routine. Reconstructed in the weeks before a filing deadline, it is expensive, error-prone and produces numbers nobody can defend — usually at the same moment a bank or a zone is also asking for statements.

The practical value is not the compliance. It is knowing where the business actually stands with enough time to do something about it, and having a set of books that a lender, a buyer or an auditor can read without a covering explanation.

Who this is for

Companies with no in-house finance function, businesses with backlog to clear, and any entity that now needs IFRS statements for corporate tax.

Scope

What the engagement covers

  • Monthly or quarterly bookkeeping to IFRS
  • Bank, receivable and payable reconciliations
  • Backlog accounting — prior periods brought up to date and reconciled
  • VAT-ready ledgers, so returns come out of the books rather than a spreadsheet
  • Payroll processing and WPS-compliant salary files
  • End-of-service benefit computation and accrual
  • Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation schedules
  • Management accounts with a short commentary on what moved

From you

Documents needed

  • Bank statements for all accounts, in the period covered
  • Sales invoices and customer contracts
  • Purchase invoices, expense receipts and supplier contracts
  • Payroll details and employment contracts
  • Lease agreements and loan documentation
  • Opening balances or last audited financial statements

Worth knowing first

Where this goes wrong

01

Backlog is cheaper to clear than to carry

Each unreconciled period makes the next harder to close, and interest in the file only arrives when a deadline or a bank forces it. The cost of clearing it does not fall by waiting.

02

Owner drawings need to be recorded as what they are

Personal expenses paid from the company account are common and not fatal, but they have to be posted to a director's account rather than buried in expenses. Left as expenses they distort taxable income and are exactly what an auditor tests.

03

WPS is a compliance requirement, not just a payment method

Salaries for mainland companies must be paid through the Wage Protection System. Payments made outside it can affect labour file standing and visa processing, quite apart from what the books show.

04

Records have to be retained and producible

The FTA can ask for supporting records for past periods. Books that exist only in a departed bookkeeper's spreadsheet are not records in any useful sense.

Before you act on this

UAE corporate tax, free zone qualifying income and substance rules are still being clarified, and thresholds change. This explains the position in general terms and is not advice on your facts. Confirm the current rule before you act on anything here.

Why clients stay

The boring things, done reliably.

Compliance is not glamorous work. It is deadlines met, numbers that tie, and someone picking up when you call. That is what we optimise for.

Priced before we start

Every service on this site carries its fee. You get a written scope and a number before any work begins, and the invoice matches it.

Two people on every filing

Nothing goes to a department on one pair of eyes. A second professional reviews the return before it is submitted.

A person, not a ticket

You get a named associate who knows your file, reachable on WhatsApp, not a queue and a different voice every call.

We watch the calendar

Once you are on our books we track your due dates and reach out before the deadline, not after the late fee.
